In case anyone still cares:
At 4:30 tomorrow, June 3rd, council will learn about options for Apex. Hmmm. How about housing projects on top of the dump out there for folks displaced after the Housing Authority meltdown? Just a suggestion...
In the regular 6pm meeting, council considers a bunch of ordinances necessary to move that Binion Casino to Losee and the 215. After all the Binion and Olympia cash pumped into campaign funds recently, how do you think that will go, despite Olympia being on the rocks and owing us $200,000?
Council will also be taking up the question of the City Manager's salary. Is Mr. Rose perhaps breathing a sigh of relief after the election returns? Or will we all be astounded at Buck unleashed?
Have a gander at item 27, an analysis of the economic impact of gaming on the city. I quote:
If the City intends to develop a destination resort corridor, similar to the Las Vegas Strip but on a smaller scale, a 10-percent annual growth rate in supply [of one-armed bandits] would dictate supply increases of 2 to 3 times current levels.
Er, uh... When did the city start to consider building a "destination resort corridor"?? Who knew that was even on the table?
Say, what would you call such a thing? Maybe....Casino Alley?
One thing the report notes is that the city currently has more casino machines than the public could possibly use. So, now's a perfect time to build 4 or 5 new casinos, yes?
