Joe Neal seems to be everywhere these days. He was quoted recently about the mortgage crisis as developers take a early nip at the eggnog to convince themselves that the housing crunch couldn't get any worse:
Mendy Elliott, director of the state Business and Industry Department, recommended against a state "bailout fund" to help deal with subprime loans. Former state Sen. Joe Neal of North Las Vegas agreed, but said a freeze on subprime loan rates would help consumers.
"People were enticed to go into these loans," Neal said, adding that those involved in making the loans knew what they were doing and were "chasing the money."(AP)
Neal also showed up at the City Council Meeting Wednesday to complain about the smell from the Republic Services transfer facility near his home. He asked the council to keep it's promises to protect Nor'Town citizens for Republic Services' abuses. He also informed the council that he was not a candidate for Chief of Police.
Joe Neal was a long-time Nevada State Senator and ran for Governor twice. There's a recently updated website run by Andrew Barbano where you can learn all about it. (JN)
