Some folks are wondering if the firing of U.S. District Attorney Daniel Bogden might not be Gibbons-related. Over at TPMmuckracker, a commentator wondered whether it had something to do with the Mazzeo mess. An anonymous e-mailer wondered if it has something to do with a desire on the part of the administration to cover-up further revelations about Trepp-gate, such as more abuses of "black appropriations" by Republicans, perhaps. Or the mis-use of FBI resources to invade Montgomery's home?
The first hypothesis rests on the weak assumption that the White House cares what happens to the goofy Gube from Nevada. As for the second, we may never know one way or the other--unless the MSM follows up. For instance, how stands that suit by the Democrats to open up records about how the Governor benefited from Warren Trepp's gifts in exchange for government grants?
Or maybe it has something to do with those "terror taxis" flying through Vegas, as another TPM commentator suggested?
Ain't spreadin' rumors fun? Just think, if the Bush Administration would explain its actions in a straightforward way, there wouldn't be any of this rumor-mongering.
Hey Kids! What do you call the new Governor? Gibber the Fibber, or Midnight Jim?
