Gibbons, Gibbons, Everywhere

Nevada_stooges_1 Some days this blog is just too easy. A barrage of articles and commentary blast America's Worst Governor, Jim Gibbons, for living up to his well-earned title.

The RJ reports that former Gube Kenny Guinn is a might upset that Gibbons' is trying to blame him for the Gibster's incompetence. Gibbons complained in a recent interview that the former Gube didn't give Gibbons access to the budget until January first of this year. Guinn has responded that he met with Gibbons in October, November, and December of 2006 for several long sessions on the budget.

Have to go along with the Gleaner, though. Kenny shoulda listened to Dema and openly supported Titus.

The Sun unloads today with a Mazzeo marathon of reports. We learn from an interview with Mazzeo that an apology from Gibbons would have made the whole mess go away.

"If he had apologized and admitted that he was maybe a little out of line, it would have been done," Mazzeo told the Sun on Thursday. "I would have said, 'Let's drop it.' "

And apparently Gibbons considered such an apology, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her, or the citizens of Nevada, the truth about what really happened on Jim's Night Out. Mazzeo isn't the only one he needs to apologize to. He's owes a whole state one, now.

And Sig Rogich would need years in monastery to even begin to clean up the ugly blotches the affair has left on his soul. You'd think his priest would give him a good upbraiding over his role in the mess. Oh. Wait. It turns out the local Catholic Church is in so much trouble, it had to hire him to handle damage control. (RJ)

The Sun follows up the Mazzeo interview with a report of some of the stuff it's finding in a review of 1,400 pages of documents coughed up from Clark County D.A.'s investigation of the Mazzeo incident. Turns out that then Sheriff Bill Young was in almost constant communication with Sig Rogich during the days immediately after Jim's Night Out. Oh, yes, the report says, Sig and Bill could have been chatting about other matters. Like what? Bill Young wasn't a candidate at the time, so what else did he have to yap with Sig about except, well, the Sheriff's investigation of Sig's top client?

The Sun then quotes a parade of criminal justice experts saying that Young should have severed all ties with Sig and his goons during the investigation. D'uh, Really? You think so?

Morrison chimes in with a piece showing that Assembly Spokester Barbara Buckley would make a much better governor than the current Adelson appointee. With all due respect to the Speaker, a duck, with or without personal protection, could do a better job than the current occupant.

Speaking of Sheldon Adelson, don't miss McKee's recent post about S.A.'s hairpiece.

And speaking of Buckley, she's got all the Democrats in the Assembly to support the "three-strikes" bill, wherein elected officials would have to give up their posts if they violate three or more ethics rules. (RJ) Good start, but I'm hoping she gets all eleven of the proposals over at the Nevada Commission for Public Ethics through the Assembly.  And then, ethics reform is up to Raggio and the Gube. D'Oh!!

And there's an update in NorthTown.

"I don't have any friends now," Mazzeo said.

Please rest assured that Sam Dehne considers Ms. Mazzeo a friend... and he's never even met her.
He admires her courage and her honesty.

Dear ScandalPerson,
Please accept the never-ending thanks and admiration from the dozens of 10,000s of citizens who appreciate the great work you are doing by investigating and staying on top of the corruption in Nevada... especially down in Carson City where somebody is masquerading as a governator.
Thanks!
