Gibbons 3 to 1 in Favor of Atrocities
Before we go all goo-goo eyed, as some have, over the Governor's support for pulling stocks out of the public employees retirement fund from companies supporting atrocities in Darfur, let's remember that Gibbons' record as a champion of the downtrodden is mixed at best.
Gibbons, rightly, signed a letter along with Bill Raggio and Barbara Buckley calling for the divestiture of stocks from mass-murder-friendly corporate monsters from PERS and quickly announced it in one of those hourly tax-payer funded P.R. missives streaming from the Gube's office these days. You see, a virtuous act doesn't count unless you can make political points from it.
Don't forget, though, that Gibbons was soft on ethnic cleansing in the Baltic States back in the 90's and chose to make cheap political points by attacking Clinton's decision to send American forces to the region as part of NATO's successful mission to end genocide there. (RJ)
And what did he say when Clinton was lobbing missiles at ethnic cleanser Osama Bin Laden? Oh, Clinton's attempts to blow up the arch-terrorist were just an excuse to cover up a blow job, Gibbers insists.
And where was Gibbons' conscience when he accepted campaign contributions from a company with ties to Abu-Ghraib torturers? Well, I suppose the difference was that he was on the receiving end of the cash that time.
