Tuesday Gibberin': Mum's the Word
While keeping mum about where his kids' mum
will be staying, the Governor has been putting his patented incompetence to work elsewhere.
- Gibbers officially appoints Paradise Valley's answer to Yosemite Sam to the Ag Department. The Jarbidge terrorist says he'll be focussing on the budget during his first few months, or the lack thereof. (RJ,MM) But don't let the "rancher" part fool you. He's a retired Ag perfesser.
- Gube and this year's appointee for boss of public safety pledge to fix the mess. Not the mess about the drugs and guns missing from the Fallon office--who'd want to fix that? But rather the other one where the Prison and Parole folk can't get all their DNA samples because they're understaffed by 50 people. (RJ) Clearly, the Governor should have hired Penn and Teller for public safety. He needs somebody who can pull money out of thin air. Oh, well, he can try again next year.
- Or maybe kill the subsidy to the monorail. (RJ) Man, those "no new taxes" politicians like nothing better than to make us ordinary folk pay corporations' share of taxes. And we wonder why the state has no money?
- In the midst of the plague scare down here in Clark County, wherein the city shuts down clinics which have given dirty needles a bad name, Andrew Kiraly tells us: "Dr. Dipak Desai is a politically juiced medical professional, former member of the state medical board and a member of Gov. Jim Gibbons’ transition team. He’s also the majority owner and boss of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada, which was shut down Feb. 29 after health officials discovered that up to 40,000 people who were treated at the clinic from March 2004 to Jan. 11 of this year may have been exposed to hepatitis B, C and HIV." And of course, Desai has given campaign cash to just about every Nevada politician, including the Governor. (RJ)
- Sebelius speculates that a Dawn-free Mansion could mean the return of Bob Uithoven to the Gubatorium, and less incompetence in appointments. (VTS) Well, maybe. The Governor was still able to goose a waitress, go on a cruise in a napkin hat, and hide an illeagal in his basement on Bobby's watch. Let's not underestimate Gibbons' incompetence, okay?
- Nevada gets C+ in managing assets: "The Silver State suffers from a booming population that threatens to overwhelm government services and infrastructure; an underpaid and under-educated work force; and a revenue shortfall, according to the report released Monday by the Pew Center on the States." Wait, there's more: "The report also noted that Gov. Jim Gibbons rejected recommendations from a blue-ribbon committee to address a $4.8 billion shortfall in transportation projects. It cautioned against taking a "piecemeal" approach to the transportation deficit." (RGJ,PEW)
- What a better time for a gubernatorial identity crisis? It's "identity theft awareness" week! (LVN)
- No news? Try an irresponsible hypothetical.

Where do they find these "gurus"?
C + ?
You gotta be kidding!
Don't you wish you could have had
that kind of (bogus) grading when
you were in school.
Just that $4,800,000,000 ($$Billion)
guber-blunder alone deserves an F..
minus.
Makes you wonder if any state could
possibly have gotten a worse grade?
PS
PEW - Pronounced pee-you.
