Gibbons' Country: Still Under the Umbrella

• Desperate, irrelevant Nevada Governor scrambles to appear like he actually matters by calling a pointless Yucca Mountain Summit. (RJ) We'll see if anybody from the congressional delegation really wants to be seen in the same room as the Gube. (Sun,DamP)
• Spokester sez Guber not sure if he has a wide or a narrow stance on the expansion of benefits to domestic partners. (RJ) Everyone's on the edge of their seat wondering if the Gube will include the increase in the budget. Okay, I made that last part up, but it's no surprise the Gube gets kinda phobic on these gay and lesbian matters. He's voted for AND against them laws protecting straightfolk from creeping gay marriage. (VGO) So, who knows which way the Governor will swing now?
• Doth the Gibbers protest too much, wondereth Dennis Myers: "I really don't much want to cover the Gibbons divorce suit, and I would have liked to see the whole matter resolved privately. But Gibbons won't keep quiet about it. He keeps saying he doesn't want to talk about his private life. But he keeps doing it. • Governor assures us that despite the bodies falling off of buildings down at CityCenter, Nevada OSHA is still on the job. (Sun) Now you know why folks in Vegas carry umbrellas even when there isn't a cloud in the sky.

So much for being a sovereign and self-sufficient state, run by State's Rights Republicans in the Governor, Lt. Governor and Senate Majority Leader's seat.

From the Nevada GOP website;

I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people." The CDC is in Atlanta and OSHA is in Wshington D.C.

Or, how about the GOP 2008 Platform?
"1) We support... more self determination."
Governor Gibbons has now called in the federal government to investigate dirty syringes and now to look into construction deaths. Yep, our "self sufficient" Governor has called in the Feds to try to fix things that we already have paid our State agencies to do.

Damn sad having these conservative republicrats asking the federal government to come into our state to clean up our own mess.
