Who's Your GILF?
All Nevada hangs its head in shame today as we contemplate just how much John McSame raised our hopes so high--just to toss us aside for some choice-hating, gun-loving, evangelista GILF.
I'm still reeling from the disappointment. How could he pass over Nevada's own GINWF for that Alaskan temptress? Yes, she may be a sad attempt to seduce hard-up ultra-rightist nuttards who get all weak in the knees when you show 'em a gun and a pic of an aborted fetus. Nonetheless, no one embodied the true, intrinsic lameness and corruption that has come to be the core value of the modern Republican party quite like James Gibbons.
McCain has missed the historic opportunity to make the one authentic statement of his whole, sorry campaign.
Mr. McCain, you have wronged Nevada, sir, and we will not soon forget the insult!
For half a day, at least.
Elsewhere: the Elko tax-assessor who was strong-armed by Gibbons' attack attorney on the tax board to help the Gube dodge his taxes testified to the Ethics-Schmethics commission today that it wasn't Gibbons who was giving him the third degree, but the attack attorney he hired from the tax board. (Sun,AP)
Huh. Al Capone didn't always pull the trigger, either.
We learn: that the Gube, after a year and change in office, still didn't know who was on the Tax Commission:
He [Gibbers] said the only time he used Marvel as his lawyer was on this transaction. And he hired him on the advice of Whitehead. The governor said, "quite honestly I never knew he was on the Tax Commission until the issue came up in the newspaper."
A real hands-on gov, no? Too busy trying to get those poll numbers up, I suppose.
But I tend to believe him when he says he only hired John Marvel, the guy from the Tax Commission, that one time. That was the only time he was trying to dodge his taxes, after all, which is Marvel's specialty.
There's more than you want to know about Edra Blixseth over on Bloomberg, today. She's the lady that tried to sell Dennis Montgomery's software to Dick Cheney. Dennis Montgomery is the fellow, in case you forgot, who used to work for/with Warren Trepp on software for finding Moslem patterns in video.
The Bloomberg article seems to take the pro-Trepp view that Montgomery and Blixseth cooked up the story that Gibbons took special favors from Trepp to help sell the software to the government back when he was backbenching in Congress.
That theory doesn't quite seem to explain how the Gube ended up wearing a napkin hat on a Trepp-sponsored cruise, though, does it? Or the loving marital emails between the Trepps.
